Nine years ago in 2014, Animal House and Big Fluffy Dog Rescue teamed up to rescue over 60 dogs from a Arkansas hoarding case. A day so many of us will never forget, the pain in our hearts, seeing so many innocent furry faces that were living in squalor and fear. Some of the things these dogs went through was unimaginable. But once they were all safe at the clinic, they started experiencing full belly’s, soft beds, gentle touches, and kind words… Their love stories began…
This is LEO and his human dad Scott (Leo’s mom Lori had to work today). Leo is one of these “love stories”! Scott and Lori showed up every day to volunteer their time and kindness to help care for these dogs. They immediately fell for Leo’s soulful eyes and took him home to foster – it didn’t take long before they realized Leo had stolen their hearts and they knew that he belonged in their arms and he quickly became the biggest part of their family.
This rescue case became an unforgettable day to so many of us, and we still look back with a mix of emotions. There was an overwhelming number of volunteers that came out every day to care for and show these babies true love and compassion. The Animal House veterinarians and staff spent long hours holding, bathing, administering treatments and caring for these kids. The Big Fluffy coordinators that spent countless sleepless nights finding these beautiful faces the perfect forever homes.
It was a challenging and heartbreaking time, but it was also a time of hope and resilience. It showed us the power of love and compassion, and the incredible transformations that can occur when we come together for the greater good.
We have had the joy of caring for Leo over the last 9 years, and those soulful and hopeful eyes he had all those years ago have only become brighter. Leo is a testament to the incredible impact that animals can have on our lives. He has taught us that love knows no boundaries and that sometimes the most profound connections can be found in the most unexpected places.
So here’s to Leo, the furry superhero who has brought endless love and happiness to Scott and Lori’s lives. May his wagging tail and joyful spirit continue to brighten their days for many years to come.
